The Carpet Knights - "Lost And So Strange Is My Mind" |
Transubstans Records Rate 6/10 The Carpet Knights is a new-coming band that was formed in 1998 in Sweden. The band had had some line-up changes in the past, has released some demos and now the time has come for their debut album. The influences of the band are so many that you will be able to find psychedelic and 70's rock sounds, progressive parts, doom and folk influences as well! The use of the flute in some tracks will remind you of Jethro Tull, but it's not only the flute... Their general sound will remind you of this great band and its early era and other bands like: Lucifer Was, Pink Floyd and etc...! The vocalist (Magnus Nilssson) may not have something really interesting to offer, but his vocals fit very well this old-school rock music. The drumming (Mattias Ankarbranth) is very tight and I really found interesting the way the band handles the rhythm section in general. The guitars have a 70's distortion and sound and that's a plus for the lovers of this era... Generally, I enjoyed this album enough, although I wasn't very pleased from the production... On the other hand, I am glad that labels like Record Heaven/Transubstans Records sign bands that belong to another era and create music without just copying the great bands of the past... My favorite songs are: "All Be The Same", "The Mist" and "Fools And Silent Callers". G.K. www.grand-rock.com |
